Summary

Background  Various mediators of pruritus have been suggested to be responsible for the mechanism of pruritus in psoriasis.


Objectives  The aim was to study the expression of members within the tachykinin family, substance P and neurokinin (NK) A and their receptors (R), NK-1 and NK-2 in psoriasis and to correlate their expression to the intensity of pruritus. A possible correlation with chronic stress and depression was also evaluated.
